I squeeze between two baby-wielding moms at the smooth, curved amber counter and take out my sketch pad, to draw another coffee cup. Ok who am I kidding, I have a drawing app on my smart phone and I’m drawing it digitally, but it looks remarkably like a real painting! I’m trying to draw a coffee cup a day for one year.  “Look”  I look up and Kevin who is between carrying orders  of lattes over to the full tables is proudly dusting something off “what is it?”, I ask.  “It’s an ice crusher circa 1960’s” I look at the curved lines and slightly green patina  of the red and silver ice crusher.  He rushes off leaving the ice crusher in front of me.   Why not?  Maybe I can draw an ice crusher a day for one year.
